Yeshua, the Lion
Together we are going to read over a lion. Not a common lion, but a very special lion. We start with Genesis 49:
Genesis 49:8-10
“Judah, your brothers will praise you. You will defeat your enemies. Your brothers will bow down to you. Judah is like a young lion. My son, you are like a lion standing over the animal it killed. Like a lion, Judah lies down to rest, and no one is brave enough to disturb him. Men from Judah’s family will be kings. The sign that his family rules will not leave his family before the real king comes. Then many people will obey and serve him.
Before Jacob was ready to die, he gave every son of him a blessing on the son’s future life.
This is the blessing Jacob gave to his son Judah: He will be like a lion. If Judah fights he will be victorious. His brothers will pay him respect. Nobody dare to disturb his peace. The men of Judah’s family will be kings. The scepter will stay in his family till Yeshua becomes king. A scepter is a staff that’s symbol of the power that someone has. Yeshua is the last king of Judah’s family. And He rains forever. The lion is a symbol of Judah’s family. The kings out of Judah’s family were all lions of Judah, but Yeshua is The Lion of Judah. The one who rains forever.
Through the tribe of Judah, the lion symbol came to represent the blessing, majesty, and even divine protection of the Jews. The lion also is a symbol of power and fierceness.
In Revelation, this symbol is seen again when the Lion of the tribe of Judah is declared to have triumphed and is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.
Revelation 5:5
But one of the elders said to me, “Don’t cry! The Lion from the tribe of Judah has won the victory. He is David’s descendant. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Again is here Yeshua the Lion of Judah. He is not only a descendant of Judah, but also of David. David was also a king.
In revelation Revelation 5:9 you read why he was worthy to open the scroll.
Revelation 5:9
“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were killed, and with your blood sacrifice you bought people for Yahweh from every tribe, language, race of people, and nation.
They refer here to Yeshua's death on the cross. Our sins are forgiven because of His offer, His blood that has flowed. This way we were bought for Yahweh.
In 1 Corinthians we can read how victorious Yeshua is as King.
1 Corinthians 15:24-26
Then the end will come. Yeshua will destroy all rulers, authorities, and powers. Then he will give the kingdom to Yahweh the Father. Yeshua must rule until Yahweh puts all enemies under his control. The last enemy to be destroyed will be death.
Yeshua destroys every enemy and when they are all destroyed He gives His Kingdom to Yahweh.
Important to remember are the following things:
1. The lion is a symbol of the royal family of Yeshua.
2. Yeshua is a king who rains forever.
3. Yeshua is as strong as a lion. He will destroy every enemy.
4. Yeshua will give His Kingdom to His Father.
