The most important period to teach children is the period between 1 and 7 years. What they learn in this period will influence them the rest of their life. How older they are, how more difficult it becomes to learn them something.

You can see that young children try to copy adults. So giving the good example is very important. For teenagers is this also the thing to do. They like real things. They want to see you do the things, that you teach. Keeping up good appearance will not work anymore, they see through it. Mind every word that you say, and act in a good way. This way you will win them for the kingdom of Yahweh.

Tips for very young children:

• Most children like role plays on young age. Playing father and mother is their favorite game. Playing that they have a store they also like. When you play with them these role plays, you can put a lot of things in it that are important. Good behavior, doing good things, quoting short bible verses.

• Dress up parties is something else they like. If you combine these 2 things you can let them acting a bible story in a play. The children who don’t like playing a role, love to watch and listen to it.

• Telling Bible stories with pictures.

• Group talking about several things you learn in the Bible. Ask the right questions. Let them think about it. Find the words to give the answers.

• Singing

Tips for primar school children:

On this age it’s important to bring adventure in it and group activities. Rewards for achievements is very important for them. Let them earn badges. They want to be the best. They have to learn many things now. The Bible, good behavior, doing good things, learn to give, learn to share, learn to take care, learn to help. Make your teachings attractive, playful and funny. They learn while they play.

• Sleep over parties. Camping. Ofcourse with religious program. Let the bring friends with them.

• Telling stories with campfire.

• Role plays and drama.

• Sing together.

• Quizzes.

• Let them search from point to point for clues that brings them to a hidden treasure.

• Eat together, let them help prepare it.

• Pray together and for each other.

• Helping others projects.

• Bible verses contest

• Watching Christian movies with a discussion after it.

• Discussion groups.

Tips for teenagers:

They want to be taken serious. And like to think that they are adult. You have to give them responsibility and stimulate to do the good things. Let them tell their own opinions and let them think about yours. Building up trust is a very important thing. This way you have chance they talk about their problems. You can listen and give sincere advice. Let them have fun. And know their world. They’re busy with things that you most likely not even heard from.

• Discussion groups.

• Watching Christian movies with a discussion after it.

• Giving bible studies. Give the person a topic and let him or her prepare it and teach the others. Check together with the person if it is correct what they want to teach. Always do a discussion round after this with the group.

• Youth meetings. The youth makes the program together with the adults.

General tips: 

Don’t do concessions. Be straight and consequent. Have clear rules and borders. Be open and honest. Become their perfect role model. Answer all their questions. Also when you don’t know. Just tell that you don’t know and you need time to find an answer.

The activities are there to make it more attractive. But the messages in between are serious and true. Who you are is what makes the difference. If you mind everything that I told you, they will have a big chance to find their way to Yahweh in their life.
