Light and Darkness
Genesis 1:3-5
Then Yahweh said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Yahweh saw that the light was good; and Yahweh separated the light from the darkness. Yahweh called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
Darkness was already there. It’s not created by Yahweh. It only got a name from Yahweh and Yahweh made borders for the darkness. It had to make space for the Light. Darkness is chaos. Darkness has no life in itself. Darkness is the absence of Light.
Yahweh brought light on earth. Light brings order. Light makes it possible that life can exist on earth. Light comes from Yahweh. Light is for the righteous ones.
As we can read in Psalms 97:
Psalms 97:11
Light is sown like seed for the righteous. And gladness for the upright in heart.
Yeshua is the light that brings life. If we follow Yeshua we will no longer be in darkness because the light of life will be in us. The light in us is the same light that Yahweh brought on earth.
John 8:12
Then Yeshua again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
John 1:4-5
In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
How we have to follow Yeshua?
Let’s read more:
Ephesians 5:8-11
For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them.
Be obedient and bear good fruits. Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Fruits of Yeshua. This way you will become yourself fruitful. You will become light yourself. Because you bring life here on earth.
Unfortunately most people don’t choose for light. They know they are not good. They hide themselves in darkness:
John 3:19-21
This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in Yahweh .”
We now going to discover what happens if you stay in darkness:
Isaiah 8:19-22
When they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn. They will pass through the land hard-pressed and famished, and it will turn out that when they are hungry, they will be enraged and curse their king and their God as they face upward. Then they will look to the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be driven away into darkness.
Don’t we recognize this? This is exactly how we feel when fear and worries comes over us. When we look on the circumstances instead on Yahweh and Yeshua, we are starting to become fearful and insecure. Darkness comes into you, because you opened a door for it. And if you are not starts to pray and to read the Word of Yahweh, it will become worse. We suppose to trust Yahweh instead of being fearful.
Let’s read Matthew 6:
Matthew 6:25-33
“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if Yahweh so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
This we have to remember very well when we are in poor situations. Else there’s a big chance we lose faith and the light. We will walk again in darkness. And it will be worse this time because you know how it was in the light.
Fear and worry is a fruit of darkness. It’s not in a child of Yahweh who totally trust on the Father. Most of us still have to grow in trust. We know the darkness so well. It’s hard to believe that we will not suffer when we search for a solution. And wait till Yahweh’s shows His solution.
There is a reason why there is so much darkness and suffering around us. We can read in psalms 107 about this reason:
Psalms 107:10-14
There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, Prisoners in misery and chains, Because they had rebelled against the words of Yahweh. And spurned the counsel of the Most High. Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; They stumbled and there was none to help. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death. And broke their bands apart.
How more people rebel against Yahweh’s Word, how more space darkness gets. Every person rebels against Yahweh’s Word. Only Yeshua’s offer can free us from the consequences of our rebellion. He and the Holy Spirit will also helps us to stop the disobedience against Yahweh. So that we can start to walk in the light and become carriers of light.
But it stays a fight not to fall in darkness again. Darkness is overwhelming when we focus on it. It leaves us without hope. That’s why we have to stay in the neighborhood of Yeshua. And look on blessings and good things from Yahweh and Yeshua. This way the darkness can’t overwhelm us anymore. And we will be peaceful and joyful. Don’t believe the bad things that pops up in your thinking. Destroy this thinking with the truth that you can find in Yahweh’s Word. Because the truth will set you free.
Remember also that there will be a time that darkness will not exist anymore. We read this in Revelation 22:
Revelation 22:5
And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord Yahweh will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.
Oh, what a happy day it will be when darkness is no more.
Yes, indeed a very happy day it will be.
