The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is one Person in the triune God, besides God the Father and God the Son, there is God the Holy Spirit. He is not an force, but He is a fully divine Person.

The Holy Spirit teaches us Yahweh’s Truth.
The Holy Spirit has divine properties: He is eternal, He is everywhere, He knows everything, He is almighty and He is holy.
The Holy Spirit is send by Yeshua at the moment that He was with His Father Yahweh. The Holy Spirit will also testify about Yeshua. We read this in John chapter 15.

John 15:26

“When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me."

Yahweh is promising us His Spirit. We can read that in Ezechiel chapter 36 and Acts chapter 2.

Ezekiel 36:27

I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.

Acts 2:17

‘And it shall be in the last days,’ Yahweh says, ‘That I will pour out of My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams.

When we have His Spirit we will obey Yahweh, we become Yahweh’s messenger, we will hear His voice, we see visions given by Yahweh and our dreams will be inspired by Yahweh.

Yeshua is asking Yahweh, His Father, to send the Holy Spirit. We can read that in chapter 14.

John 14:16‭-‬17‬‬

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

The Holy Spirit will never leave us. And the Holy Spirit will be with us and in us. Because the Holy Spirit lives in us we become clean and become from Yahweh. The result of this is that we grow in faith. The fruit of the Spirit proves Yahweh’s work in our lives.

In Galatians 5:22‭-‬23 we read about the fruit of the Holy Spirit:‬‬

Galatians 5:22‭-‬23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

In John chapter 16 and Acts chapter 1 Yeshua is promising us a Helper.

John 16:7‭-‬8‬‬

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.

This Helper is the Holy Spirit. When Yeshua is leaving, the Holy Spirit will come. The Holy Spirit convicts people of their sins and points them to Yeshua's redemptive death. When people come to faith and accept Yahweh’s offer of forgiveness, the Spirit convinces them that they have received eternal life and are children of Yahweh.

Acts 1:8‭-‬9‬‬

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

Here’s Yeshua leaving. He goes up in the clouds to His Father. But before He leaves He tells the apostles that the Holy Spirit will give them the power to do miracles while they will tell the people about Yeshua and everything He teached and about everything that happened while Yeshua was with them.

On the day that the Jewish people were celebrating that they received Yahweh’s Law, the apostles received the Holy Spirit. We read this in Acts 2.

Acts 2:3‭-‬4‬‬

And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.

The first miracle was that they all spoke in languages that they never spoke. People from many countries with different languages could understand them because of this miracle.

The apostles were from this moment on testifying about Yeshua and spreading the Gospel to all the nations.
